I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the DK55C in hopes that it would fit all my needs. The DK50C seemed to have what it takes but I wanted to go one knotch up just to make sure I had the power I needed. Well, now that the DK55C's are out I was surprized to find that the DK55C's prices are far higher then expected especially when compared to the DK55C. Is this normal? Does 5 HP make that much difference in the manufactuering of this product. Other then the hood there are no other significant differences between the two. Sorta feel like it's there new line and they want suck every dollar out of it that they can. Makes me want to go to the grand L30 series kubota. What am I missing here?

I've seen prices of $4000 difference between the DK50C and the DK55C. Add a loader and it quickly exceeds $6000 to $7000 plus easily. It's not even hydro. I just don't understand the immense price increase for 5 hp.

Maybe I am mistaken, but the DK40/45/50 are essentially the same frame size. Isn't the DK55 a less-powerful version of the DK65, which is significantly larger and more featured? This was my belief, but it may be in error....

I'm pretty sure that the DK55C is a different animal entirely than either the DK50 or the DK65. I think that it is bigger than the 50 but small than the 65. I saw (and climbed around on one) at a farm machinery show back during the winter. It seemed to have more operator space than my DK45 (I know the DK45 and DK50 are the same size, and I think the DK40 is too.) but not as much as the DK65 that was also at the show.

As far as prices, I went with the 45 because is was only $800 more than the DK40 (which was why, at the time, my dealer didn't carry the DK40 - but I know he has had some and sold them since then). Upgrading to the DK50 was exceptionally more (a couple of grand, I think) because the DK50 has a turbo, which, just like in the trucks, usually cost alot more. I don't know if the 55 has a turbo or intercooler or anything else like that to jack up the price or what. Are the prices for the 55 higher than 65? I haven't seen a price on the DK 55.

Lastly, and this probably goes without saying, but are you sure that the prices for both units (the 50 and the 55) are both with cabs and comparable equipment. Just making sure...

These are the average prices I have found:

DK50C -- $21,500
DK55C -- $25,500
DK65C -- $27,000

All 3 with cabs and turbo chargers. The 3PH and hydraulics specs on the DK55C and DK50C are identical. Ground clearance increased 3 inches and width by 8 inches with the DK55C versus the DK50C. PTO HP increase was approximately 3hp.

I am yet to drive one, so maybe the price increase will be apparent when I get the chance. If not I'm sure the salesman will have entertaining viewpoint as to why. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey Dewave,
I tried to wait for a 55C,but just couldn't do it. I bought a DK 50 and love it. The 55 I crawled over was quite a bit different than my 50. Some of the things I remember are, bigger tires, fuel tank on the bottom (under left hand door I think), I want to say it had a 3 pt position lever in the back like the 65.
The cab is a whole different animal. It's like the 65, more room, ac and heat vents are spaced throughout the cab, and I think the gear and syncro levers are different than the 50. The hook-ups and mounting brackets for the fel are different and in my opinion better than what is on the 50. Part of me wished I would have waited, while the other part of me is glad I bought the smaller 50.

Thanx Justin,

You make it sound like the comparison of my 1999 red Chevy truck that I traded in for my new Silverado with electric leather heated seats with 2 memory position, built in cell phone, heated mirrors, 6 CD stereo with Bose speakers, on-star, and the ability to check my e-mail while driving the beltway. (Lol, I have never used that feature.)

Same truck plus some extras equaled a larger price. I guess it's the same with the 55C. However, I think I'll wait and see how some reviews turn out on DK55C before I buy.
