I was contemplating buying a 2010 DK90 (Perkins engine) from a dealer with 190 hrs on it. One problem however, he states that it smokes on start up and also when under heavy load. Concerened about this because it is his own personal tractor, he contacted a Kioti rep about this condition. The rep informed him that this was semi-normal due the break-in period being about 400 hrs. The reason that the break-in period is so high, is that supposedly Perkins engines have a very rough finish on there cylinder walls. Anybody have any input on this tid bit of information--- fact or fiction? Should I stay away from this particular tractor? from all DK90s? from all Perkins engines?
