Anynone have any experience here with sharp turns or anything like that? Won't use on the lawn too much but would like to know?

I have bar tires on my 422. They will scrub the turf a little if you turn lock-to-lock while sitting still, but I haven't had any damage while moving. Frankly, I get a lot more turf damage from the rear wheels on the mower deck.

My experience is the same as Scott's. The only noticable damage to the grass in my yard comes from the fixed rear wheels on the mower. That problem will be the same with turf or bar tires. Overall, I am glad I got the bar tires. After a rain, when the ground is soft, I know the bar tires are helping alot with traction. The only complaint I have is that, in muddy conditions, big chunks of mud stick in the treads and end up in my drive way. You probably wouldn't have that problem with turfs, but then again, you probably woundn't make it back to the driveway either. If you think you will spend much time on soft, muddy ground, especially on slopes, I would go with the bar tires. Just my two cents.

Actually, yes you would. Mud sticks in the gaps of tread on my turf tires.

Yep, Dave's right. The turfs pick up mud and it dumps on your nice driveway. Granted, it is little patterns of mud, but it is mud nonetheless. Then us nice driveway types have to get out the hose and spray it down. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

We have no turf, so can't speak to the scarring aspect, but concur with Ken's apt description of bar tire's abiltity to find a hold when turfs would just spin. Better traction is important on hilly terrain, especially when it gets muddy.
