Oil & Fuel Do BX oil drain plugs have crush washers?

I'm going to do my own 50 hour service on our BX24 tomorrow and realized I've never heard whether or not the engine and hydro oil drain plugs have crush washers that I should have gotten along with my filters and oil.

Can someone verify for me one way or the other?

No replies yet, so....this is general information, not Kubota BX specific.

When you remove the plugs you can see what kind of washer was used.

There are washers that are either a tube in a circle, copper or aluminum soft washers, nylon or plastic washers, or plain tapered threads.

I'll admit that I don't always replace these washers. I usually just reuse the old ones. And I'll bet most of us do. And I don't get leaks. When I use dealer oil filters, they are much more likely to include a new crush washer, and I always use that.

If you don't have a new washer, I'd just use the old one. If a leak develops, then replace the washer.

I can't say for sure, but I think it's unlikely that your hydro oil drain plug has a gasket/crush washer. It's more likely to have a tapered thread.

My BX has a copper washer on the oil drain plug/bolt. I haven't replaced it as is has stood up well for 1100 hours. I read somewhere that copper washers can be renovated by heating them to a high temperature with a propane torch. Haven't tried that myself.

*Both have the washers but no need to replace them.
The only time i ever replace one of those is if there is any leakage past them.

If you don't have a new washer, I'd just use the old one. If a leak develops, then replace the washer.

I never replace these on anything un less there is a leak.
