Although a little off subject , The comments about using the neighbors kid or wife reminded when I tried to use my Father-in-laws electrical meter to check my electric fence .:ashamed:
Shoved the Ground wire into the dirt , Set the dial to the highest DC rating , and then touched the red probe to the fence . Needle made 3 pops to the full right then died !!!
We , ( as in BOTH ME and MY Wife ) , placed meter back in the box and returned it to my Father-in-law . He tried to use it for something a couple of months later but No-Go . Since it was still under warranty from a large tool company , they checked it out . Their exact words were according to him " Boy , its a good thing you did not try to use that , something was really wrong with it . All kinds of melted diodes on the board " .
He got a new meter free and we came clean on what we did .
