update-- I am thinking a new batter might be a good start. I went out to mow a little bit ago without lights on since I am home before dark from work for once but happy to be working and it did it again stalled out. I had to jump it to get it going before I sarted and am on my way out to jump it in the middle of the year. The cca on the factory battery in it says 245 cca right now.
I'd have to say the answer to the original question, "do i need a new battery?" is a yes even if only measured by the age of the battery. These L&G batteries aren't really built to last very long. If you don't replace it now, you will soon.
After that, do some trouble shooting on the charging system. Make sure you're getting 14 volts or so accross the battery terminals with the engine running. I was getting real similar symptoms with a Kohler in my Toro mower. My problem ended up being a poor connection at the fuse panel, but it could be a lot of things for you.
You may be overloading the system with those lights, but that's not where I'd look first.
