I want to use my tractor instead of buying a $700 tiller for cultivating my garden. I'm felixble in the distance between my rows since I haven't planted. I can plant my rows so the unplanted space between the rows are in the tire tracks of my tractor. What can hook up to my tractor to cultivate the area behind each tire? Is this a good approach?

You already have a 48" tiller correct? Just remove the tines in the middle to get the spacing you want.

Hmmm, I didn't know that was possible. How do I go about removing the center tines?

I don't have one, BUT...Looking at the MANUAL, on page 28, it looks like you can just unbolt the tines. Hopefully someone who has one can confirm this for you.

Our local farm store sells a one row cultivator for a $119. It would work great for rows of sweet corn

Can you set the position of it, say to be behind one of the wheels?

It is set up to straddle the row with the tractor and then the shanks go behind the tractor wheels and take out your tracks while taking out weeds and ripping the ground. I saw one on e-bay like I am talking about for $279 but like I say Rural King has them for $119 and I believe you can order them on line from them, or you could check with your local farm store too. Online they are listed at $129 her is a link to what they have. The picture on line shows the shanks on backwards for some reason. The second link is to one on e-bay.

Thanks, that looks like what I need. I'll see what it costs at TSC.

This will not work...you'll end up with clods popping out the back of the tiller where the tines have been removed...

You want a cultivator...
