Do you balance your trailer tires?

Put new tires on a 16 ft dual axle bumper pull last year and had them balanced. When towing with tractor loaded cannot tell much of difference but when empty or lightly loaded the balancing seemed to make it tow a good deal smoother.

Balance them. Like stated before, when towing empty it makes a huge difference.

I agree!! And it also makes a long haul all that much safer!!

I balance the tires of any highway use tire... Why not ? besides a little extra cost ... nothing compared to the cost of the tire.

Yep, I think I will. I never balanced a trailer tire in 20+ years, but I own a trailer now that has much lighter axles than my old one. It has 5200 lb torflex (6,000 standard duty), and 15 inch tires. I'm swapping out the 15" D rated tires for a set of E rated towmasters-figure a heavier tire never hurt. UPDATE: Just my opinions...... I had the tires balanced. Honestly, I can't feel a difference. the trailer is about 4000lb empty, and have only pulled it empty since balancing them. I know it doesn't hurt to balance them, but no difference.... to me. maybe if it was a lighter trailer?

IMO, on a lighter trailer, an out-of-balance tire is going to be more obvious. Not to say, that on a heavier trailer, the same problem tire won't start to wear funny even if you can't feel it in the truck.

Some people don't bother, but unless the trailer never left the farm, or only went 5 miles to the dump and back, I'd want it balanced. Just my preference, and :2cents:.
