Was at the local grocery store today and parked a few spots away from my GMC was a 4-5 year old Chevrolet 3/4 ton long box with a Duramax, it had been tastefully modified and appeared to be just off the showroom floor. As I came out with my cart and was unloading my stuff, the owner wheeled his cart by and began unloading his stuff. I walked over to him and said: "Your truck is simply beautiful, I can tell that you take good care of it..." His face lit up and he said thank you, it has 87,000 miles on it and I do try to keep it looking new.... Turned out he was a GM retiree who used to work with my ex-BIL....
I do that frequently, if I see another truck that obviously has been well cared for, and if I see the owner, I compliment them on how good their ride looks. Matters not to me if it's a GM, Ford, Dodge, whatever....
When you really take care of a vehicle, it shows pride of ownership. I cannot count the number of times I have made a positive comment to others during the past 20 years. How many times have YOU done the same thing?
