Anyone out there know of any mulching injuries to the operator of a track loader with a head on it? Please PM me and let me know.

Thanks,

I don't know of any myself, but I just found the following website yesterday and while watching the videos I was thinking to myself that the video camera operator for the lower left video was not too smart standing in front of the mulching head. Also, check out the length of chain that they have hanging on the push bar. If that thing was to get much more slack in it, it would of ended up getting caught up in the rotor and who knows what would have resulted!

Maka I haven't heard of any, but i know that you are supposed to have a protective door. My buddy with the RC100 has a 1/2" polycarbonate/Lexan door that he got from our ASV dealer. it looks pretty heavy duty. Why are you looking for something like that? By the way, how did the demo of the big mulching machine go?

I have a customer who runs a mulcher on an SR-80. He decided to do something not real wise and leave the door open while grinding a stump. As he backed up he grabbed a choker that was buried and almost hurt himself badly.

He came in and told me what a foolish thing he had done and I wondered if anyone else had done something like this and or been injured. These are powerful machines where if you are not careful it can be disasterous.

Also, the day we were demo'ing a guy had an RC-100 with a head on it down the road. The head was not engaged but he had another guy working with him sitting on the push bar as they were driving the machine to another place. I honestly just can't understand people sometimes.

The demo with the Rayco went great. Excellent machine. I got pictures but have not had to much time to do a whole lot with them.

Thanks,
Maka

So far "knock on wood" no serious operator injuries. I have found buried metal and broken teeth, teeth holders, beat up my tracks, broken a windshiel on my truck (flying lawnmower pully @ 35 yards) and hit my sawhand in the head with a stick  (only a knot). He has learned quickly to wear safty vest and PPE...and to get out of the way!! I told him my job is difficult enough to remember where all of the inanimate objects are. A moving target is always a challenge though:rolleyes:
