Do you merge sooner, or later?

When I know there is an upcoming on ramp, I look to the left, and see if there is a hole. I drive slower, mostly in the speed limit, and that's why I'm in the slow lane Often that hole is not there as people are near tail gating, at 15 over, in the fast lane. So, I try to be in the slow lane to not get a ticket. Then, there is the gravel truck going 25 miles an hour to try and merge on to a 65 MPH posted highway that everyone is going 15 over. So you have to break check everyone behind you to let this truck get up to speed. I'd rather have been in the fast lane then, well before the on ramp.

I had that happen to me a while back, except that it was a sedan with Massachusetts plates. One car to the left of me, another on my bumper and they pulled in front of me going way too slow. They then reached out the window and gave me the one finger wave.

That's why they call them "Massholes"
