Do you touch up paint your tractor?

No painting on my JD2030, it's 40 years old and any painting would make it look like the whole thing needs painting.
I did do some touch up on the JD6415. The trucker wrapped chains on the front axle. I still have chain impressions in the paint. I used JD spray paint. I also repainted the PTO guard, straightened it first then painted. It looked like the top link had been dropped on it many times. The wheels need some touch up, but I figure they would be hard to make look good without painting the complete wheel. So the scratches remain.

Zebra, you can paint them wheels pretty quick.. Pressure wash, or bucket and rag with some detergent. I would steel wool/sand those scrapes and prime. When that is dry. Steel wool the whole wheel, then take a rag with some lacquer thinner on it to pick up the dust.. some masking tape on the edges of the tires then some newspapers taped on. Use short pieces of masking tape. Hit it with your rattle cans. The whole job should not take more than an hour. or so.

I'm lucky, my Mitsu blue is Tremclad med blue which is available in qts and spray cans.
My rims are Tremclad aluminum color which I brush on. I like to keep it presentable but don't go as far as waxing but then hate rust.

Ok, maybe I'm odd here but I've never felt the need to touch up scratches in the paint on my tractors. If I did, I'd be painting more than working. My implements, well they usually make contact with the ground which removes any rust present. And any paint.

I guess I am one of those people that work my machine but will not abuse it. I have no problem sinking a plow in the ground and making it work or mowing grass over the hood. I try to avoid working in areas where my tractor will get scratched. Some people are picky about sports cars being nice and shinney and I'm that way about tractors.lol My tractors do get dirty and cannot help that but I just dont see a reason why they should get scratched. I stay out of the heavy brush or wooded areas.

Well we are talking about touching up dings and scratches on the hood and fenders, and parts that do not normally touch the ground.. Of course the bucket has rust and missing paint and is shiny steel by the end of the working day. I will spray the top of it maybe once a year to keep rust down, but I don't need rusty spots on the hood or fenders if it is easy to fix.

I honestly don't see that as much of an issue. Now mind you if it lived outside, I might want to keep the paint better but scratches or even chips in the paint are a fact of life if using the machine. It's not a car, it's a tool I use in less than friendly terrain. It generally goes where I point it, over and through things that might just scratch it. When mowing down invasives, I have to get close enough to trees that I'm pushing limbs out of my way. Doing the job effectively is more important to me than how pretty my tractor looks. Even a little surface rust won't keep the machine from running well.
