In listening to the news about guitarist Doc Watson's death a day or so ago, I heard mention that his son had been killed in a tractor accident in 1985. It peaked my interest so I used Google to learn what happened. Sounds like an unusual rollover ( slid down embankment at 4am) with the operator pinned underneath what sounds like heavy backblade or maybe boxblade. Obviously no seat belt or ROPS (1985).

Not sure many people here know about Doc Watson Island especially the youngins on the forum. Unless one had a musician ship background, I do not think many know of this man and his contribution to country folk music. He was blind almost at birth and developed a guitar pickin style that if one heard "Dualing Banjo's" one would be aware that it was Doc who initiated this style. A master of his craft and a music monster. Too bad about his boy.

Sad if people don't know who he was because his influence on several generations of guitar players has been profound. Same league as Clapton, Hendricks etc but in a uniquely American acoustic and folk/country vein.
