I decided to shelter my 3320 with the approach of Dennis here in Crestview, FL. Has anyone left one outside during a hurricane?

That's the sweetest machine I have looked at to date. I would definately store it in that special zone that is storm proof. That zone is called Maine. I have a great spot for it already set aside. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
All kidding aside, good luck!!

My 4610 is doing just fine running a 25kw PTO generator outside in the worst that Dennis can offer near Marianna, FL right now. Power is out but you wouldn't know it from in the house. Water pump, water heater, all the lights, stove, tv's, computer, etc. all work fine.

Dennis is ashore now and we still have power. How much was that generator? A tractor shop near here stocks them.

Just out of curiousity, do you shut the tractor down when you refuel? What kind of RPM are you running the tractor at?

I paid about $3500 for it about 5 years ago. It is a 3 phase unit but it runs a single phase load just fine. It has a frequency meter on it and the 4610 indicates 2500 at 60 hertz. The 3010 runs 1900 rpm when at the same PTO speed.

I try to start with a full tank and shut it down at night so I don't have to fill it with it running.

How long can you go between refueling ???

We burned about 4.5 gallons in 5.5 hours today. With a little reserve, we should be able to get 12 to 13 hours on a tank of fuel. The load on it will make a difference too. We cooked lunch and watched the hurricane on television until the power came back on. A 2 speed PTO would help fuel consumption...you could run the engine slower and still get 540 PTO. Frank,

Thanks for the info. I'm glad you and your family were not too put out by Dennis. The pto unit is what I'm going to look at this week. Unfortunately, hurricane season has just begun.

We were petty lucky this time but have not been in the past. We are out in the woods and although flooding and storm surge in not an issue, (300+ ft elevation and 50 miles inland) a solid hit has left us without power for the better part of a week. We have our business here(www.compasslake.com) and while a 25 KW generator won't run the bigger machines we can do enough to keep people working.

Believe me, it is worth it when you can take a shower and fix dinner when the grid is down.
