Does buying an "almost new" CUT make any sense?

Re: Does buying an \"almost new\" CUT make any sense?

I also had the same experience with my Cub 7360SS. 2 years old, 28 hours, always owned by dealers, so I got the FULL warranty AND new tractor financing. I haven't needed the warranty, but it was peace of mind. Over 100 hours now and it's still running great!

It was a lucky find, but they are out there. I can't tell you to look for one like this, but it might not hurt to scour smaller lawn tractor dealers for one they might be ready to part with. This guy was just using it to lift lawn tractor pallets and move them around. He didn't even stock the CUTs.

Re: Does buying an \"almost new\" CUT make any sense?

A neighbor had a tractor that he drove for a few weeks. It developed a problem/defect from the factory so the dealer did the right thing and refunded the money.

Tractor dealers just like car dealers go to auctions to find these LIKE NEW tractors to sell on there lot.

The neighbors tractor was told it would be going up to the dealers auction and Information of the defect does not have to be disclosed there.(DEPENDING /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ON THE AUCTION)

So be careful and sure you trust the dealer is what i am getting at..

Re: Does buying an \"almost new\" CUT make any sense?

You should buy used!! When i was looking many used or off brand tractors were all higher than the John Deere that I bought. Now I am thinking that i must have been taken in by the deere marketing monster. I mean, certainly those are better machines, since they commanded a higher price than what I bought...

But I guess I will keep this one a little longer. Sadly, I will probably fall for the same charade next time. I just never learn....

Re: Does buying an \"almost new\" CUT make any sense?

So far I've had good luck buying newish models from a local dealer. My last two 'big' tractor purchases came from our local NH dealer. I had bought a 3 year old 1920 from him.. 700 hours.. traded it 3 years later ( 2 weeks ago ) and got almost every penny I paid for it in trade on a lease returned 2year old 7610S.. with some warranty left on it.. also inthe 700 hour range.

Both units were well below new price.. in fact.. were about 2/3rds of new price.

Plus both units were sold at that dealership and had been serviced there... that makes for a good feeling.

So far.. I'm happy with the 7610s.. but miss the 1920...
I would be less comfortable buying from a private individual..
