Thinking about getting a windsheild for my gator. Does it keep the wind out of your face or not really? Need it for snow plowing. I can take the cold pretty well, and I dress warm, just need something to keep the wind out of my face.

I loved my windshield until it started to get scratches. When you went into the sun you could hardly see out of the windshield, it magnified the scratches BAD.It did help on those cold mornings and kept the spider webs from hitting me in the face. I have been thinking about a windshield from ESSEX MANUFACTURING, they have some with glass, but they are high.

It creates a vortex effect when you are traveling fast in dusty conditions. The whole cab area will be covered with a thick layer of dust and you will get it all in your eyes and everything.. Horrible.

Not too much dust involved in snow plowing.

We're developing a windshield and hope to have it to market in just a few weeks. I thought I'd run it by you guys since you are interested in windshields, and I'd appreciate your feedback. This windshield is made of the most abrasion resistant polycarbonate available, the kind you will find on heavy construction equipment where impact resistance is also important. It is not scratch proof, no poly material is. Jab it hard with a screwdriver, and it will leave a mark. However when it comes to resisting scratches from washing or brushing off dust, mud, grit, etc., it can't be beat. It has a main panel that can be used by itself to deflect the majority of the wind from your face and torso, but air can still enter above and below, cutting down on the dust drawn in. Hinged extensions can be added to cut off more of the air coming in from the top and bottom. Especially nice when the temps drop. We've got the prototype here. Let me know what you think!

A glass windshield and complete cab are also on the way!

I just purchased the full-windshield and the poly-roof. It has been down in the 30's a few nights and I haven't had to put the Carhart's on yet. One thing the deere model has that I haven't found on the others is a weather strip that fits snuggly against the roof and hood/fenders on the gator. In the installation instructions, they recommended putting a couple of coats of wax on to help prevent minor scratches. It is an expensive option, but so far it has done a great job keeping the wind off.

I haven't noticed the vortex effect, but I have the rearscreen on mine...I wonder if it doesn't restrict the flow of air just enough to keep that from happening.
I run up and down two miles of gravel roads to get to the farm and back, so I surely would have noticed it by now.

I use the JD poly windshield and roof in the winter.Does excellent at knocking the wind down.
When summer arrives it has to come off, as darkday mentioned it does cause the dust to enter the cab more.

I don't have a cab or anything. All I want is something to block the wind. It will only be used in the fall and winter. It cost like around $220

I was referring to the driver compartment. (sorry for the confusion)
The windshield will make it much more comfortable to ride when its cold..
