You've gotten great info so far.
I responded to your PM.. hope youv'e got some time to read it.. it's a tad long-winded.
One thing I forgot.. sometimes the starter interlock is finicky, and you may have to jigle the tranny shifter a bit to make sure the starter button knows it is in neutral, so to speak.
Also.. if this has an automotive style switch, it may have been wired as a turn to start.. especially if has also been converted to 12v... etc.
See if there is a wire from the thumb button to the starter solenoid like someone else mentioned.
Get back to us with any particulars that might help us with specific advice.. like is it still 6v positive ground.. is it front or side mount distribuitor ( the method of changing the points, and the points gap is different between front and side mounts.. and there are tips and tricks to both.
