The sales literature and Kioti's web site have the 45 listed as having front PTO??? Where is it at?

I do not believe mine does.

A front PTO is really just a gimmick on most tractors that claim to have them. It is typically a spindle milled into and extention of the crankshaft that sticks out the front of the engine. Most are difficult to get to, are not suitable for attaching a 3pt implement to, and they run at engine speed. There are some noteable exceptions to this, some of the Italian double ended tractors (Antonia Carrera, Ferrari and a few others had real front PTO shafts). I'm not sure about the DK front PTO, but I suspect it is one of former type that is not really practical for most uses since it is buried inside the engine compartment. Because they are essentially a crankshaft extention, there is no way to turn them on/off except to stop and start the engine.

Bob is correct.
The front PTO on the DK is just splines on the front of the engine crankshaft.

yes, it is splined and runs at engine speed (hence the crankshaft) and i'm not totally sure but i dont think it can be easily accessed through the front of the frame without modification. I suppose something can be done about this, but keep a few things in mind. 1 Though the front has no suspension to speak of, it does pivot, and may cause a problem if you want to mount a shaft to a hydro pump. 2 There will also need to be some modifying to mount the pump out front 3 You didn't state why you want to know so i'll state this anyway, if your looking to run a front mounted snow blower, this is not your avenue.... just dont. Nope, did not have any plans on running a front mounted snow blower since I have the FEL on and use it for snow removal. I have looked for it several times and never found it, I guess I never looked hard enough or at the right places. It doesn't seem to make much sense to advertise something that really, from what I've just read, has no practical uses.

Well that is my take too. But I suppose it could be most practical for someone who is a 'tinkerer' and likes to build things. It would seem to me that you could mount a pulley onto it, slip a belt over the pulley, and then use it as a stationary motor that drives some sort of a belt driven appliance, tool, etc. Then again, you could do the very same thing off the rear PTO and it would be a heck of a lot easier to do it back there.

BTW, in my earlier post I wrote that Antonio Carrera tractors had a front PTO, I must admit my error. They no longer offer that feature. The AC tractors now have a reversable operators station that allows the entire operators platform to spin 180 degrees so the rear becomes the front and the front becomes the rear. This seems pretty desirable.

Since the Kioti tractor is manufactured in South Korea and I would assume sold there I wonder if they have a use for the front PTO that we might not have thought about? Maybe a use like Bob has just suggested with a pulley and a belt setup?
I'm a history buff and from what I've read Kioti made the first water cooled diesel engine in 1949 and the company, named the Daedong Industry Co, was formed two years earlier. They produced their first tractor in 1968 but the DK series wasn't introduced until the year 2000. I guess they are now South Koreas largest manufacturer of agricultural equipment.

Not sure what they might use a front PTO for in Korea?

However I know that some LARGE agricultural tractors have a similar crankshaft spindle (JD, NH, in the 100+ HP range). There are even aftermarket front PTOs that run off of that crankshaft spindle and have a hydraulic clutch to engage them.

But on a small tractor like a DK series machine, I have no clue what a front spindle off the crankshaft would be used for, especially if there was no aftermarket clutch engageable pto shaft assembly that would fit this size machine. It would be interesting to find out what they are used for in Asia.

Since yours doesn't have it, tell the dealer you want a refund:D :D :D
