Does the fuel filter have a gasket, o-ring or washer on top?

This should be about the same for most of our models, this is a TX1500, I just changed the fuel filter, no washer, o-ring or gasket was on top (could have been lost by a previous owner).

Seems to me there should be one, I checked my Owners, parts and service and repair manuals, none show a diagram of it or describe it.

I'm assuming you have the replacable element type fuel bowl assumbly and not the one-piece unit that came on some of the TX13/1500 tractors. My parts list shows an o-ring for the filter bowl (between the bowl and metal housing) and an o-ring between the filter element and the housing. The smaller o-ring may actually come with the filter element but I'm not for sure on that one.

Sorry I should have taken a pic except it is bitter cold even in the garage, I think we are talking about the same thing, I have the removable clearish bowl with a paper like removable/disposable media inside of it.

I have the o-ring for the bowl to filter head.

I did not get an o-ring with the new filter, NAPA Gold.

Question, would it be an o-ring that fits snug at the top of the "collar" that the filter attaches/slides onto? and could I use any o-ring that fits snug from my assorted (Viton) o-rings?

I think the answer to your question is yes. The size of the o-ring will be somewhat challenging. Most likely metric. Attached is a diagram. Part 11 is what I believe you are talking about. The parts list doesn't give a size unfortunately.

Now that the muffler is done I wanted to change the fuel filter, been pulling my hair out trying to get the old o-ring out.

Its part # 11 in the above picture by Ilike, I have dental picks I have been working on it, because its recessed in a groove I can not get a grip on it, because of its location I cannot get a knife on it to cut it. There has to be a way to do this simple maintenance procedure!?!

I figured it out today!, only took me 24 hours!, I had to think smaller the the Harbor Freight dental picks I had, I used a safety pin to poke the o-ring and pull it out a bit then I could grab it with a pick.
