( Here's a shot of the CONEX where my Kioti sleeps at night.

I've used the CONEX for two years now and it has been great. The only problem with it is that it seals too well and I sometimes have condensation problems. Especially after I've parked the tractor with snow on it. I clean the snow off as well as I can, but there are limits to how much it's realistic to brush off. Some day, I'll fabricate a better vent system to let the moisture out.

I also keep my 6 foot snow blower in the CONEX as well as a 3PH hydraulic log splitter and a ton of other stuff. I put a shelf and a frame in the back to take advantage of the CONEX's full hight for storing stuff. Everything fits nice and neatly. )

So how much does a Conex cost? Details?

Shipping containers are available in many areas. There is a major outlet in Atlanta, GA and many other large cities.

I looked into getting a 40' container a couple of years ago and found a good deal on a refrigerated type for $1500. I hesitated, and now, since all the hurricanes, I understand they have gone WAY up in price, but I don't know for sure.

Do a google search for shipping containers for sale and you may find some close by you.

In our area you could find them from $1,000 to $4,000 for 20' containers. At the low end of the price range expect dents, some holes, missing seals, jiggered up door latches, rust, and chewed up floors. At the high end you can get a once-used box in very nice condition. Delivery was $150 within 50 miles of the dealer. They included 6x6 pressure treated blocking to set the box on. (I added some more blocking of my own to insure the box didn't sink into the ground.)

To find a dealer, I did some web searches and found the large dealers who sell nationally. Their prices were better than the locals, but delivery was no joke. I would have ended up paying as much as I did at the local dealer, but to buy a box I had never seen.

In the end, I just went by some construction sites and wrote down the names of the companies renting CONEXs to contractors. One of those companies was reasonably close by and had a box for sale in my price range.

I could have spent what I did on the CONEX on building a shed or garage for the tractor and ended up with something not as nice as the CONEX. Yes, it's homely, but you can't have everything. Another good thing is that the CONEX is not a permanent structure, so it doesn't add to my property taxes, which are very stiff in NH.
