Tina Springer, it makes you wonder if her dog is a spaniel.

Based on the article, I couldn't really figure out how the gun went off, but it was clearly not in a holster. I'm always amazed by how some people carry a firearm with less thought than carrying a cell phone.

I knew someone who was stowing their loaded shotgun behind their pickup seat with the gun pointed towards himself. Gun fired and killed him. What are some people thinking?

I knew somebody who was putting his loaded deer rifle in the truck when it went off and put a hole through the floorboard and transmission. A friend's wife in scared of guns because a childhood friend opened a closest door and a single shot shotgun went off, killing her. The family had moved several times yet nobody checked to see if the gun was loaded.

I'm wondering if they've modified the trigger to be very "light". I had someone have me shoot his rifle. It got bumped and went off, fortunately no injuries and the only time in 70 years I've even seen an accidental discharge. Turns out he'd modified the trigger to be very light - around a quarter pound and no takeup.

My uncle was a black powder enthusiast. One time Pennsylvania state champion. The gun he used had what is called a set trigger. Actually it had 2 triggers. You pulled the first trigger to set the second trigger. As soon as you applied the absolute minimum pressure on the second trigger it fired. He let me dry fire the gun and I was never even able to feel the second trigger before it released.

I'm guessing it was a semi-auto. I bought a revolver for my wife simply because things like this are less likely to happen, particularly when you have limited experience with firearms. I know that older firearms that are worn, can discharge unpredictably; my Dad borrowed an old bolt action rifle to hunt deer with; carrying it in his truck loaded, barrel pointing down, and it discharged when he hit a bump. I suppose there could have been a lot of reasons for his happening. I know one thing; I would never carry a semi-auto loaded and with a round in the chamber with the safety off unless I was seriously threatened at the time.

Of all the accidents with guns that I have first hand knowledge of, someone did something stupid.
