This spring I used the tractor and BBlade to alter my driveway and make it run right to the bottom of the kitchen deck walk out. Then I spread gravel down and put a topper over the deck and fenced in the area. When the built the house the grades were all wrong and now the water drains away instead of towards the building. When we moved here all that existed was a door to nothing. We called it the suicide door.:D

This is so convenient. We can bring groceries right up into the kitchen but being able to let the dogs out without worries of them running off into the woods is the greatest. The deck is over a slope so it's like we're sitting up in the trees. It is a great place to have a meal or just watch the birds.

I have 4 dogs, the one in the pics is "Max" or "Mr Macaroni"

I'm still going to cut off the posts that are too long and then put a facade of cedar rails onto the chain link so it's a bit nicer to look at but that will all come in time.

looks good! i like the "pointy" window on your house.

also, watch that bbq and propane tank so close to the house!

Good tip on the propane Amp. I've been trying to figure another spot for the BBQ but have not been able to come up with one that is convenient. It is too close though you are right.

nice kennel. To have a better spot for BBQ, it looks like another project on your hands. I would build an extension deck between the post where the flower is hanging and put BBQ there. There seems to be wasted space under there where the border log is and perhaps you can just do a cavalier style.

around here, the rule for propane is: 5 ft from any souce of entrance to building (window, eve vent, exhaust vent, door, etc.) and ten feet from any outside appliance (air conditioner, fan, light, etc.).

propane is heavier than air, so a leak will pool in low pockets and spread out along the ground or floor. (the reason gas water heaters are so dangerous).

of course, good ventilation can quickly disperse a small leak.

then there is the flame up issue when actually cooking. if you get called away for a few minutes, etc...

i like the edge of the deck with a good, non flammable floor mat. that way the gas if it leaks can fall away from the fire and any drips or hot coals won't burn the deck. also keeps the inevitable wasp or bee nests farther from the house!
