For our first Christmas together, I bought my wife a carpet shampooer. I really thought I was doing something great!

When I taught 5th grade, some of the girls came up to me after Christmas break and was really interested in what I bought my wife for Christmas. They has these giddy little smiles all over their faces. That is, until, I told them what I bought her. They didn't believe me. Then they proceeded to tell me how awful I was.

I guess I'm too practical.

10 years later, after we've had kids, I remind my wife of how nice a gift it was when the kids puke, pee or spill something on the floor!

That's pretty funny I have a friend who actually gave a chainsaw for christmas - he survived only because there was no fuel in that Stihl

I have found the key to both my survival and sanity is to give her a gift card from her favorite store or stores. That way she gets to do something she loves to do, SHOP and she always gets what she wants.
