Don\'t pull the loader

Well I stuck my 2710 yesterday. Couldn't get to anything to tie on to so I hooked the chain hook to the lip on top of the loader bucket and hooked the other end to my 4X4 Suburban.

Bad move. In pulling the tractor out I pulled a dent in the bucket - about half an inch. Pretty much cosmetic damage, but pretty stupid.

After so much dry weather all summer I'm just getting frustrated by the rain rain rain. Can't get the tractor out without getting it stuck. Right now its about 6" taller than it should be since the wheels are covered with mud.

Re: Don\'t pull the loader

I've posted this before but thought it good to go again. When I figured it out for myself I had a big SXXXEATIN' GRIN!

When you are going to be going into the goober dirt, put your tow strap or chain on either end where you are going to pull from and hang it on the backhoe or somewhere so you don't have to tunnel down into the bog to find a place to hook something to later.

I've done this a couple times and always say out loud...DAMN I'M SMART!

Of course I didn't post anything on the recent string entitled "STUPID TRACTOR TRICKS" I've done so many myself I'd be afraid to pass TOO many of those along, I might get banished from this board.

No matter how intelligent I sounded on the next post someone would be thinking "Not that idiot that......with his tractor!" /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Alan,
Most of us have been there and it ain't no fun. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
Sounds like you may need to purchase a pressure washer.
Warmer days are coming...hang in there.

Alan, like you, I'm sure tired of mud and cold. Who'd a thought last August we'd ever feel this way?/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Re: Don\'t pull the loader

I once got stuck too. A neighbor with a bigger green tractor came by and we chained to my bucket pointed as far down as allowed and I was able to hook a loging chain hook to the bottom lip (thick steel) and get it to stay. We slowly lifted and pulled me out. Actually it worked pretty good. A trick I found to keep the hook on the lip was to take a bungie cord and attach one end to the hook and the other to the top lip of the bucket. That held it long enough til the chain was pulled tought. Isn't it amazing what you can think of when your baby's up to it ass in mud?? :>)

Re: Don\'t pull the loader

Before I put the hooks on the top lip, I did something similar to gmason. But I hooked the chain to the bottom lip then ran it up around the back of the bucket and forward over the top. My theory was that this put the stress on the bottom lip in the direction it was designed to go and spread the stress of the chain around the back over the whole bucket. I don't know, like I said - it was my theory.... It worked anyway with no damage to the bucket.

WVBill,
Interesting theory.
I can see where you would also gain little more life when curling the bucket upwards.

Re: Don\'t pull the loader

I have stuck my 2710 a couple of times but I used the fel to get me out. Just roll the bucket down dig it into the ground and roll it up while putting down pressure on and back out.

Re: Don\'t pull the loader

That's not "stuck" it's just "slowed down"

I've been "stuck" a few times so that I had to use the hoe and the loader working together. Took some tries to get it right, kind of like patting your head and rubbing your stomach. My hands wouldn't do what my mind wanted! (Especially since I was doing the loader with my left hand!)

Kind of scary, my Ford and it's backhoe stall when the backend of the tractor gets a little way off the ground unless you run the rpm and wait.

I don't even want to know how high the L35's hoe will push the tractor off the ground! I guess I'll never be an astronaut, I like my feet (or tires) on the ground!

I know what you mean about staying cold & wet - I'm getting pretty tired of it too/w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif. It's been so wet around here I actually bogged my 4x4 truck in my driveway (yeah, I know - pretty embarassing)/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif - my wife go a lot of mileage out of that one/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif
