Do you use a rubber float trowel, finishing trowel, v-notch trowel, or something else?
A notched trowel might get uncomfortable. I suspect that a flat edged metal (or, better a flat rubber edged) trowel would be best.

Dear Sir, You have my solemn promise that I will not reveal the truth to your Wife. But, never the less be prepared for the worse. After reading your post, my Wife is presently undecided whether or not to send your Wife an E-mail. You know how Women stick together. Best of Luck. :D

I am not afraid!

When I have a feeling there is a misunderstanding between me and my dear wife I get in front of a mirror and give her a piece of my mind:)

Definitely won't tell. I can relate

Made a special trip from Heidelberg to Prague in 1991. - sole purpose to buy a crystal chandelier. Had it in every house we lived in since, but never unboxed. I did open it once, found the instructions, realized I definitely did NOT read Czech so packed outback up. Two years ago, got brave and tackled it. Said chandelier hangs in our living room here in Hawaii. Even has bulbs and works :)

For every one "heroic" fix we make, I think they have one too. It all equals out :D
I'm keeping a mental note of the stupid things I've done - only to be praised for fixing it. It's a long long list :ashamed:

I've had home maintenance projects go both ways.

1) Dishwasher quit. I feared the worst that my pump was out. Two weeks later I manned up and tore it apart. Twenty minutes later I had unkinked the drain hose and we were back in business.

2) Had a slow bathroom drain. Ran a snake down it and it came out the wall on the other side. Rotted pipes, rotted sheetrock, and rotted floor underneath. "If we're tearing the wall apart for the drain pipes, we might as well only do it once." By the time I fixed that little problem I had used about every home improvement skill in the book from plumbing and electrical to framing and roofing (new vent).

I have plenty of other experiences but those two pretty much sum up the extremes.
