Ford 2120 , Kubota MX5200 , Deere X748SE. 1956 Economy Tractor
Working on trading in my New Holland TN75D with a Woods 1050 Backhoe for a Kubota MX5200 with BH92 Backhoe.

Since I'm not at my farm much anymore, my wife says the 75 horse cab tractor is too big for 3 acres.

Hope she thinks the MX5200 is a lot smaller!

Are you going to miss the cab? 3 acres is enough to find a nice hornets nest!

An MX on 3 acres? I'm on almost 2. Guess I'm way undersized with a BX. I've gotta tell the wife I need a new L-Series.

LOL. Remember I’m downsizing from. 75 horse cabbed tractor with a 10 1/2 foot hoe that weighs 12,000 pounds

The front tires of which are larger than many compact rears

One of the issues with it is how hard it is to remount backhoe for an old guy by himself

Hopefully the Kubota is much easier as I like to swap implements often

I haven’t mounted my Valby chipper in yesrs

Hopefully the wife thinks this is smaller!

I’m also getting. Landpride 72” grapple and a 72” brush hog

The brush hog is in case I need to mow at the 84 acre farm to assist the Ford 2120

If you still have access to the Ford 2120 and the Hitachi excavator, you could arguably go with a smaller cabbed tractor, and implements sized appropriately. They'd be easier to get on and off as you get older, and the cab might be nice in winter.

* whispering so your wife doesn't hear me. If you have approval to get a bigger tractor, well, the rest of us wish we were you.

I have an MX5100, same tractor but no DPF, on 10 ac of which I rent out 3 so I'm managing just 7. The MX is a good fit. I put most of the hours on it Chipping and mowing.

Most of my mowing is done with zero turn. However, it rains here a lot. If it rains for a couple of weeks my grass gets 2-3' tall. I use the MX with my flail so I'm not spending 5 hrs mowing 3 ac at a time. I can usually get all 7 ac done in a little over 4 hrs with the MX.

Now, my buddy has 14 ac and is doing just fine with his BX25. It's all about what YOU want.

Profile says 75 acres. First there is mention of 3 acres in the thread, then there is mention of 84 acres. So are we talking about 3 acres, 75 or 84?

3 acre home 84 acre farm, I think 75 was before survey, boundaries go back to 17 hundreds, some is swamp

Then the MX is just about right. Good luck.
