I have been thinking of placing my "craftsmen" dozer blade from my garden tractor inside my FEL and building supports to fit into the FEL. The bottom fits pretty well, just have to provide support to back and top of FEL. Thinking of having it bolting it to top in several places so I can install and remove as needed without too much hassle.
Any thoughts would be great.

When I say dozer blade, I would only be using it for weed removal, leveling dirt/ sand (not typical dozer work)

Thanks for any input:D

If your tractor has a reasonable loader subframe, i'd mid mount it to the loader frame to deal with any lateral forces, and use the loader to lift it.
Well that's if you plan to use it under an angle. just light work straight ahead will do if its mounted to the loader arms.

I think you will bend up the FEL frame, unless you are very careful and have no (small) roots and rocks in the soil.

I needed to move some loose dirt awhile back, so I tossed this together. It's 3/8 x 5 strap for the blade and top. It has a strap on the bottom of the bucket lip and on the top, so it bolts to the bucket.

I made it six ft long, so I could see it as I leveled stuff.

Agree that it could damage the frame if I hooked it hard, but moving loose stuff, think I'll be fine.

See pic,

Ron

Don't think I would dare trying it,not unless I knew or could see what I was about to push...if you decide to attach sort of plow I wouldn't make it any wider than the bucket...as other TBN member said bend, strain etc..

I would think that you should be OK if you use caution and go slow. I would think that if you are taking it slow, that the tractor would loose traction or bog down before you break anything on the loader frame. I have seen guys pucshing over trees with their FELs. This looks as it would put just as much stress on a loader frame.

Thanks for all of the replies...
I live in the high desert in NV, blow sand a little bit of clay (thats when you can find it) most of the vegetation is surface with no deep roots, Trees are sparce, majority of the rocks are imported from other areas.
Just running my mahindra 2015 HST over the soil breaks it up.

I have imported road gravel (3/4 minus) for my front side yard and need to smooth it out a little

I have 2 small dozer blades from sears, and was thinking of a little project and came up with the idea of converting my FEL witha drop in bucket dozer blade.

Light weight work only.:)

WHy not just get a 6' wide rear blade? Around here you can find them in the 100-200 range.

I think it's a pretty clever idea. For the work you describe it should do a great job and not be too stressful on the fel. I like what RonR did to his. IMO, It should not place any more force on the fel than regular digging and getting into a hard spot or catching a corner with the bucket would cause. If you're worried about stressing the fel, like always, use common sense and take it easy. It's not like you're gonna be going 20mph when grading are you?
