I dont know that much about FEL, but I just bought a tractor that has one. This is the first FEL I have ever had, although I have had several tractors in the past. I am looking for something like a Dozer blade that replaces the FEL bucket. I have about 12 acres that I am turning into pasture land and I had a logging company come in and cut the trees. I am looking for an attachment that replaces the bucket that I can just push all the stuff into a pile and burn it. I have been doing it with the FEL bucket and I was wondering if a dozer type blade on the FEL would do better. ANy advice would be greatly appreciated.

TureCountry:

Welcome to TBN :D! Please provide the readership with a little more information about your tractor such as is it a "quick attach" FEL bucket, skid steer compatible, etc.? The membership loves to spend everyone else's money . Keep the posts coming :). Jay

Seems like a job for a grapple to me.

Welcome,

Something that took me years to learn (That heavy equipment operators know) was that I don't have to dump the bucket just because it gets full.

When pushing debris at ground level, if you stop to dump the bucket, it slows productivity. Whether or not there is debris still in the bucket just back up, and push again. I always have the urge to dump, you must fight the Dark Side.

When filling trenches this really comes into play, get at a 45ー angle to the trench and push forward until you have piled the dirt over the trench, then, without dumping, back up, and push again, right next to where you just pushed. Repeat many times. You will have a load of dirt in your bucket the whole time, but it will go much quicker. Move to the opposite side of the trench and repeat. Same would go for snow.

So, if you are just wanting to "dozer" some debris, your regular bucket will push it. A Toothbar would probably help.

I agree with the previous posts, need more detail, we'll help you spend your money, ( ALL of it! :D ) and, if it's sticks branches and scrub brush, sounds like a grapple may help.

I would assume that you are trying to dozer some heavier material if it is left over (cutover) from professional tree clearing operation. In my mind that would take alot of tractor (HP and weight) to be able to really push that kind of debris any distance. Without further information I would go along with the grapple suggestion. It would let alot of the dirt pass through so you aren't trying to push as much and exceed your capacity as quick. If you don't have front hydraulic remotes to operate a grapple you could just go with a root rake like the one in the attached link (assuming a quick attach on your fel). Good Luck! Saw this on a Kama website.
Looks pretty beefy and notice where it's connected. It's not like an fel connection.

I agree with going with the grapple. Why push more dirt if you don't have to. I've had mine for 6 years and have done all you are wanting to do easily. I couldn't tell you the size or specifics of what you may need for your tractor but the company that I bought my BoDozer grapple from is very knowledgable and helpful. I just told someone else about their sight. Google BoDozer or Borgford for their site and phone. They could answer your questions. Good luck!
