My main objective is to do some dirt work on my property, not really any any brush or tree removal. I wanted to get some input for what would be a better solution, a dozer or a track loader? I notice in the regional heavy equipment trader that track loaders seem a lot less expensive, dunno why but they are? and I could probably save some money ifen I can perform the dirt work task with a loader rather than a dozer. Please provide some insight.

Thanks...

you may need to be a little more specific on what you are planning to do. i personally don't see a dozer or track loader as a jack of all trades machine to do various things around a property. for what they do they can't be beat though.
good luck

I would like to dig a new tank, nothing huge maybe 1-2 acres, enlarge another tank, build a pad site for house, level some old farm terraces, stuff like that. I live in Texas and the soil in my area is black dirt that expands and contract depending on the weather, no sand or rocks.

Just seeing the difference in prices, I'm inclined to get a track loader possible with a multi use bucket (4 in 1) but thought I would ask why they seem cheaper? Seems you can get more value, typically a larger heavier and , more power vs. what you can get out of a dozer, dunno just my first observation.

Also, thought with a loader could also lift heavy stuff, like hay bails and other equpment if needed.

Dozers usu have a blade that angles; track loaders don't. At one point I had a track loader, a dozer and a TLB and I never - as in never - needed to use the track loader. But I'm just a guy hacking arouind on a farm.

I'd say you have a plan. Only caveat I can think of is a crawler loader has a slightly higher center of gravity than a dozer on those terraces.
