I told my wife that by the time I'm done with this dozer, he's going to be asking me if I want to borrow stuff so he doesn't have to fix it himself...lol!

Blow up your first picture and count the shoes. Then count how many you have now. That'll tell you if there's one missing.

I don't think there is. It looks like 36 shoes in the 1st pic. He said he was short one when he did the other side also and it now has 37. The only thing I figure is that the new chain has them a little closer together. Both the ild and new chain are 37 link chains though. Anyway, I think a shoe is only $30-$40 so I'll just order one. I need to get some more bolts anyway, the other side has a lot that are loose and some that are lost so I'm going to fix that also.

My dump truck would be more useful for his work. He should borrow it instead.

Let me finish the in frame rebuild on mine and then we can chat about it.

Funny thing, I'm doing the rebuild because I loaned it to a neighbor to move some dirt I gave him 1/4 mile down the road. He had it for over a week to move 5 loads and brought it back with water in the oil. I think it was a liner o-ring and it definitely wasn't all his fault but, it happened when he had it. Had it been me, I'd have been shoulder to shoulder with the owner making repairs at the very least and probably would've offered to help pay, especially after I was given 40ish yards of good, clean top soil.

He hasn't offered to turn so much as a single wrench or pay anything but, has asked to borrow other equipment since then. I just tell him everything is down for maintenance or repairs.

But my truck only needs a glow plug solenoid, idle control solenoid, and a right turn signal. See you'd be coming out way ahead. If you were feeling like a really good friend you could fix the air conditioning.

That does sound better. I could probably have your's running in a few hours. Only problem is I've already got the $1200 in parts and $600 in machine shop here and paid for so I'm committed now. I just need to finish putting it back together, its just so overwhelming when I look at the pile of parts (and stupid hot) so I've been doing a little at a time. I've got the liners and pistons in and have the head on and torqued. The exhaust manifold is loosly bolted,I needed to get some gasket material for the turbo oil connections and that stalled me. I haven't gotten motivated to finish yet. I did have to pay $150 to have 12 tons of material delivered last week, that kind of ticked me off but, not enough to get back on it...lol

I like it and may use it in the future...

It does run and drive. I drove it 200 miles in the last week. It just has a few issues. Btw, I'm mostly joking.
