Since my ponds are very low it seems to be a good time for some enhancements. Have a guy quote me $90 per hour. What is everyone else paying by the hour? He thinks a couple days should be enough time to fix all my issues. He will be using a Cat D6 10' blade.

Sounds cheap enough

Sounds like a deal to me! Here we get $275 transportation and $150/hr.

Ask who would be responsible (cost, etc.) to have the equipment removed/repaired if it gets stuck or breaks on your property...friend of mine suggested this to me and it proved good advice.

That would be a low rate for my area.

Have him bid it,those two day jobs roll over to 3.

that price is more then fair , here in southwestern pa. the going price is that and more up to $150.00 /hr. plus moving,at least one way.like the last comment, the time frame usually goes over, dont be suprised. good luck to you.

Here in upstate NY, that would be a great price for a D6. My brother is an well-established excavating contractor and gets $90 an hour for a Case 550 dozer. A neighbor built a pond a few years ago, and he paid $250 an hour to a contractor using a D6 and a decent sized Cat excavator- 2 operators.

Bob, that's what I paid 2 months ago, it also included the trip charge for me since I have used this guy before.

When he did my small pond, he had to use the rippers because the clay was so dry, that was 3 years ago and it is allot dryer now, so you might ask him about that too.

Thanks for the info. Trip charge is not an issue since the Dozer service is close and we have a good relationship. He also has rippers on his D6 or at least on one of them. No problem with the integrity of this dozer service just checking his rates and sounds like they good too very good.

Our farm is in an area of everyone helps everyone. If dozer gets stuck then anyone that can help shows up. We had a brush hog bust and we put out the call for help. Someone showed up that did the welding and in the process broke his tail lights in his truck. No charge for the welding and wouldn't take any money for the tail lights. Last week one neighbor gave us 35 1700lb bales of hay and wouldn't accept any money. We are fairly new (5 years) to the area everyone has been so helpful. We are waiting for they day we can return all the good deeds our neighbors have given us. Our farm is in the boonies 100 miles from where we live (Dallas burbs). Try asking for help in the city and you may get shot!

Bob, It's good to have great neighbors for sure. Someone that gives you 37 bales of hay, that's "family" brother:D

More than one meaning to "welcome to the hood" city vs. country.
