I was considering using a drag harrow ( King Kutter Incorporated ) to go over the land after rototilling it. Has anyone else done this and did you like the results.

38 years ago I used this one to drag and
smooth out my entire 2.33 acres after getting the whole thing graded off with a dozer .
The dozer operator found it under a pile of weeds in the upper left corner of the property and set it off to the side .
I towed it with my 1966 BOLENS 850 garden tractor after the dozer work was finished .
It done a great job.
As soon as I got the job done I put the thing in this carport where it's sat un used for the last 38 years.

I have the 4x8 ft. and have used it after tilling - works great for leveling and seed bed prep. On turf, works very well for de-thacthing with out hurting existing grass. The only issue is planning your turns. I have steep hills and woods and don't always have room to turn safely. I plan to fab a frame on the 3ph so I can raise it and back up. Oh, and the 4x8 is two piece and can be broken down to 4x4 for tighter areas. Also pull it with my 20HP lawn tractor - it is heavy - the LT struggles with the weight on hills. Not sure if mine is KK, but got it at TSC

You didn't say what results you are hoping to achieve with the drag harrow?

For me, I like to use them to smooth out the ground, level off the small, uneven ares by either knocking the high spots down, or filling in the low spots.

There are all sorts of things that work great for this. Railroad ties, bed frames, I beams, and logs are all very popular. I used an oak log for about five years, but then it rotted out on me. I'm going to make a new one this year from concrete and use angle iron for a cutting edge to replace my log drag. When I do, I'll post a thread on it and how it works when I'm done.

Here's some pictures of my log drag.

I would wait until the tilling is done to see if you really need a harrow. I couldn't improve much on the way my tiller left my garden. I amended the soil in the foreground with sand and tilled the whole garden twice. The soil was nice and fluffy and level. The picture is just before laying out rows.

I'm thinking about rigging this one up so I can lift turn and carry it with the 3 Point.

I 've alread rigged this pallet drag up that way.

I bought a chain drag harrow from Farnam about 20 years ago. I have pulled it over many acres, about 5 years ago I welded up a frame for my 3PH so i could lift it on turns and also allowed it to dump. This drag has teeth so it will build up with trash.
I still use it to drag over pastures after I have broadcast ryegrass seed in the fall and usually pull it over the pastures to spread manure prior to the bermudagrass sprouting out.

I have one similar to this. They are pretty much indestructible. With the tines up they work well smoothing seedbeds. They are also a good thing to use horse on pastures.
