Well, I've got it. After nearly 300 hours, I've got the coolant leak at the fitting next to the oil filter. My problem...I remember reading that you need a modified socket ( slotted ) to get over the nipple for the hose and then spin off the part. I've tried searching for info and can't seem to find it.

Anyone that has done a repair, can you please post some pointers as to the socket details, or at least a link to the posts that detail.

Since the leak is VERY minor, I'll just re-install the OEM part after cleasning and the application of some good thread sealing goop. It doesn't look like any was applied at the factory.

Thanks

I had this problem on my 1998 NH 1925 last fall. The replacement threaded fitting was around $7 I believe, so I replaced it. The old one was corroded. I used a crow foot wrench...and the size is just over one inch.. maybe 1 1/16. I found that these wrenches a hard to find, the rental shops don't have them, Sears went up to only one inch, so I bought a cheap set at Northern for about $40.
After I replaced the fitting using a good measure of pipe dope, I still had a small leak, so I added a bars leak tablet to the new 50/50 antifreeze mixture. So far this spring, it appears to be holding.
