Drain pan/Salad bowl

I made an oil/antifreeze/fuel/whatever drain pan out of an old 20lb propane tank a month or so ago. I cut the bottom 6" or so off with a grinder and cutoff wheel, cleaned up the sharp edge, welded on a couple of handles, sanded it down, painted it Kubota Orange on the outside and white on the inside. Made a pretty spiffy looking drain pan.
The GF saw it setting on the parts washer today, and remarked that it was too nice to use for draining vehicle fluids into, and that it would make a nice large salad bowl.
I kept custody of it for now.
I doubt she'll want it once it's had Kubota drain oil in it.

Great idea! I would hammer a little pouring spout on one side, but it sure would not be this pretty. I might make one or two for my - future - blacksmith shop to hold quenching fluids.

That is nice!! I wonder if Super UDT mixes well with vinegar . . .

So I took the upper part of the LP tank, cut the handle/valve gaurd off, made some legs out of 1/2" black pipe, used some 5/8" flat washers for feet and welded it all up. Scuffed the powder coat on the tank and the coating on the pipe with some 80 grit sandpaper and gave it a couple coats of JD yellow.
So now the GF has a neat little planter made of a recycled propane tank.
