Does anyone know if there is a coolant drain plug on the engine block on the mCRD engines or will all of the coolant actuallty drain out using the radiator drain plug? Asking in reference to the 55hp engine but guessing they are the same across several HP engines.

don't know your engine but disconnecting the lower radiator hose on what I've seen usually lets all engine coolant out.

I'm not sure if it would since it looks like the block heater and freeze plugs are lower than the height of the water pump so not sure how much coolant would remain in the engine. Also not sure how low the cylinder walls go and since it's a wet-sleeve engine the coolant surrounds those as well.

The radiator drain plug is what it has. To get the remaining coolant the manual recommends you “Install a good type of radiator cleaner” and “Follow the instructions given with the radiator cleaner.”

Then “Remove the radiator cleaner solution. Flush the system with clean water”

Finally install good ethylene glycol coolant.

The same thing happens with your hydraulic system. The design is to get most of it. But you will leave a good portion.
