I have a Mahindra 3616 and was wondering about using a drill seeder for food plots this fall. The birds dang near clean the seeds off before they sprout here. I've heard I need dual remotes to use the drill seeder and my tractor is not equipped with this. Can I get a dual remote system put on my tractor at a dealer or would I need to borrow my neighbors tractor? I hate to use other peoples equipment. And I like to be able to go when I get the notion.

I am sure you could get a dual remote installed, but I bet it would be pretty expensive. Depending how often you plan to use a drill I would just borrow the neighbors tractor.

Well the county will lend me a drill seeder for nothing. I wonder if I can take the fel off and hook it up there.

My old restored Minneapolis Moline P3-6 grain drill (10-ft wide/20 drops) uses a single hydraulic cylinder (ram) to raise and lower the 20 disc openers (that cut a groove in the soil to receive the seed). So I only use one set of rear hydraulic remotes (I have three sets available on my Mahindra 5525).

You need to post a photo of the drill you're referring to so we can figure out how to get it working with your tractor.

FEL? No, grain drills are generally towed behind the tractor via the drawbar, not attached to the FEL. Some smaller drills (5-ft wide) are sometimes set up to attach to the 3-point hitch for food plot work. Enterprising folks will buy an old drill like my 10-ft MM drill for scrap price and make two 5-ft drills out of it that they then sell for a few thousand bucks each to eager food plot enthusiasts.

Good luck.

Yes you could just run some extension pipes and plug into the loader plumbing .

Thanks, that what I think I'll do. Buy some extension lines long enough to run back to the drill. Be cheaper than buying a drill or having dual remotes installed.

I don't believe your 3616 will be big enough to run the no-til seeders that the county extention office has for loan. Our county has a 10 ft. Hayvan that would take 60 HP or more.

I'm hoping here they have a smaller one. A friend of mine said my tractor would run one but I need to check it out myself I guess.
