what is the main difference between a drill, and a planter.

Drill is generally for narrower spaced crops like wheat, oats, rye, soybeans. Planter is used for corn, beans, some truck crops. You can turn a drill into a planter if you have a roll of duct tape, and the seed will feed through the gate!
