I became the proud Papa of a new
bouncing 'Bota Bx23 last month! Just took off the 'hoe fo' the first time! Good thing I had my toes out of the way! I will get better with time...I hope.
Ran into another problem though, with my 42" Rotary Mower. Well, it's new just like everything else, so I made adjustments here and there and finally figured out the 3 point assembly and then the mower...just one problem...the driveline is too short! Won't hook up to the PTO. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Does anybody have any ideas or are there any adjustments ?
Just took a picture of my new baby 'Bota! Hope I did it right to show ya! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I believe that you will need to purchase a new drive shaft for the implement. Once you cut them, if they are too short, there is nothing that you can do to lengthen them that I know of. I am not the drive shaft expert when it comes to tractors, just reporting what I have learned from reading messages here. Enjoy the new tractor..... great machines.

I cut it 3 times and it is still too short.... measure twice and cut once... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Vlpena, Just hooked up my mower for the first time yesterday after I took the backhoe off last week. The first thing I thought was that the PTO shaft was too short but a good yank and it extended out. Are you sure the shaft is telescoped out all the way? Did you cut the shaft? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I think TXDon hit it. You didn't mention cutting the shaft, so I doubt it's really too short. I bought two different RFM's and needed to cut the shafts on both of them. Both were much longer than needed.

When you fit a shaft, make sure it's short enough so it doesn't bottom out as the implement is lifted.

I've also heard of shafts being damaged when the lifted implement collides with them on the way up..............chim

DWB,
The only thing that is cut short is my brain waves (too much of the 60's...70's...80's...). Didn't cut nothing! Just pulled on the driveline and extended out just like it supposed too!!!
Used it today and worked like a champ! Thanks to all!
