I decided to hook up my tiller for the first time this year, well first ever, and when I started to hook the driveshaft to it, it seemed to long. Can anyone tell if the driveshaft is to long or do I have the tiller attached to the 3 point hitch wrong? I can take more pictures tomorrow if need be.

Take the OR clutch off. It wasn't designed to have that on.

Yep, he's right, you don't need the overrunning clutch to run the tiller. Man I wish that I had a 3 point hitch for my tiller. Sure would make it easier to switch from my bush hog to the tiller. Have fun /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks Reed and Hondo, the OR was the problem. I dont know what I would do without this board /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Get rid of the overrunning clutch. Also you may find that you will need to attach the PTO shaft first before attaching the 3pt hardware. The tillers set very close to the real wheels that getting a saft on after attachment may not be possible.

Gary,
Thats what I had to do is attach the shaft first and then the 3 point hardware. I also found out that I couldnt till and turn the tractor at the same time because while in a turn the rear tires would come in contact with the front lip of the tiller. I guess this is normal.

GHog,
Have you had any trouble aligning the to tiller shafts? Mine is very difficult to connect together. bw

Brett,

thought I'd poke my nose in here, I just got a tiller a few weeks ago and to slide the PTO shaft into place I had to clean many years of crud off the splines. A little dab of grease and it was cool.

Also make sure the shaft extends in and out smoothly. It may need a little cleaning and greasing also. With that done I was able to hook the tiller to the 3 points and then attach the driveshaft very easily.

Did you remove the shaft cover for the photo or does your pto saft not have a cover? I would seriously consider getting a shaft cover for your safety.

I couldnt tell what model tiller you have but I found that If I get my tiller up on blocks I can roll it back and forth to make 3pt connectons alot easier. I have always had problem getting the tiller connected in the spring. Usually figure a couple hours to make the connections. It seems to be more an art than science.
