Does anyone know what spreader this is? I bought it at a auction on saturday. It looks like a big one it just a smaller version. There is no name or serial number on it. Any information would be appreciated.

The indicator on the back side is like a Dearborn I have, however, my Dearborn is Blue. Ken Sweet

Looks very much like an IH (McCormick Deering) #6 drop spreader to me.....

If possible, post a picture of the in/out of gear locking mechanism on the hub. I can tell more from that than any other indentifying feature.

As far as I can tell there isn't any gear to lock in. The agitator turns all the time. You have to shut the gate to stop the flow.

The spreader is 4 foot wide and 19 inches tall if that helps any in identifying this spreader.

Sears sold a "David Bradley" brand spreader. No part #'s showing anywhere?

There are no part numbers or anything else to help to identify it.

Looks good but the first thing I would do is clean and check the chain to be sure it rolls smoothly then spray with a good chain lube.

There is no chain at all. The beaters are driven by the axle shaft that goes to the tires.

I realize this is an old thread.....but GANDY makes a few sizes of drop spreaders similar to those shown in the pics. Might be one of their's? I think they are still made in Owatonna MN and they have a website.
