Don't know how but I bent the drum around the blade holder. The protective flange. Had to use an air chisel to get it out..... Also a look at my blades after 13 hours of use...

You sure do get in a lot of trouble, but then again, you seem to be using the PT a lot.

It is the first time much of this property has been mowed. I expected damage... Just hope I am not destroying the guts of the mower in the process..

Is that the brush hog mower, or the finish mower that you are using? In most things, go slow, be sure, and git -er-done

YIKES!

Raise the mower wheels to the highest settings to help avoid the rocks. Also, slow down to a crawl until you have gone over the entire area and can see what is under the brush.

If its any consolation, I have destroyed a couple blades on my PT425 by bending then under a log, have broken the bolt that holds the blade on at least three times, have destroyed a rear wheel by hitting some scrap metal buried in the bushes, and I probably only have 10-15 hours of actual brush hogging. The problems is, the machine can do so much work that we tend to go too fast and run into stuff. I am convinced the brush hog is the most dangerous tool I own, with the possible exception of chain saws.

My first set of brushhog blades looked similar to yours. Same situation: first time the area had been cleared let alone mowed. I can remember the blades tossing rocks that were almost 1' in diameter and over 10#. I hit plenty of rocks that wouldn't budge too.

I saved the mowpart.com site from another post here and hope at next blade replacement I'll be able to do better than PT's $50 minimum order. I'm hoping someone will need brushhog blades before me and will have figured out the part number (if there is indeed a replacement through that site).
