Drum Mowers

Was thinking of getting one of these drum mowers for my small acreage:

HayMAGNUM Drum Mowers by CCM

The good I see is fewer parts to go bad & decent price.
The unknown to me is how do they work in thick, tall grass/alfalfa?
How do they hold up overall, will it last more than a few years?
Any feedback good or bad will be appreciated.

Double6, this is our first year with our T-190 drum mower from CCM and we love it. Puts the old haybine to shame. You do need a tedder as it leaves the grass/hay in a windrow behind the cutters. Only downfall I can find with the mower is hookup but that isnt that bad I just wouldnt want to do it all the time or I would get a quick attach system. As far as mowing tall grass/alfalfa, I mowed our first cutting alfalfa this year at 7.2mph.

The belts are similar to the the belts used on disc mowers. The life of a belt would depend on the operator. Some people purchase a set of belts every 10 years and some people need a set every 3 years.
