Drywall contractor wants to bankrupt me!

It was 66 here today....just saying. I left Illinois for several reasons....weather, overcrowding, space, neighbors, politics......did I mention I haven's shoveled snow in 12 years?

Pex piping is supposed to withstand freezing water. Haven't tried it, don't know if I want to. Jon

I have Pex under the slab in the garage. My excavator strongly urged me to install type L copper, but the plumber said Pex is better. It supposedly can freeze and expand, then unfreeze and contract without breaking. At least to a point. I don't want to try that, but if something ever froze, I believe I'd be better with Pex.

A different plumber won the plumbing bid for the residence. Very qualified knowledgable company owner who is supervising the job. He recommended Pex. The only thing I didn't like is he relocated the two on-demand heaters to work in series, then plumbed a recirc loop so there will not be any long waits for hot water on the far side of the house. Recirculating water kind of defeats the purpose of having an on-demand heater, but he assured me that when we are away from the property (good weather) we can turn it off. But leave it on in the cold of winter.

I agree. That is bizarre-to-the-nth-degree.

Better to have Point of Use on-demand if you want instant Hot Water, IMO.
