DS4510 starting problems

Its been going on for about 6 months now, but today it officially wont keep running. After the warm up, pressing the clutch, and starting it, when I let go of the key, it stops. Up until today, whenever I let go of the key and it would start to stop I would quickly turn the key back on and keep the engine running. I would do this a dozen times and eventually it would keep running. Today, I had it running and was off the tractor when it just stopped. Battery cranks fine. Happen to anyone else? Im no mechanic, but can do the basics if thats all it is. Anyone have a solution? Thanks. Eric

Sounds like the key switch to me ! The key switches on Kioti tractors must be crap because hundreds of threads when owners have trouble starting , running , battery problems it always comes back to the key switch . Maybe someone can up with a conversion to an aircraft or boat type switch .

Are you saying the key moves to the off position by itself? If so, there is something wrong with the detent in the switch and cleaning probably won't fix it. If so, replace the key switch

Take the switch off, disassemble and check contacts. Start to finish plan on 1.5-2 hours. At least that is what it took me. My switch was fine, my actual problem was the starter relay. However my symptoms were different from yours.

Just curious if you found a solution to your starting problem as I have just encountered the same problem too, I have a DS4510. Any suggestions would be much appreciative.

If you simply turn the key back to "on" and not "start" to keep the tractor going that sounds like an ignition switch problem. They are easy to remove and open to clean the contacts. Like I said in an earlier post - about a 2 hour job total.

Do you have a large key ring with keys hanging out of your switch? This will ruin most ignitions if you do. I use a single key in mine.

Sounds like the switch. Dealer told me to keep the plastic cover on to keep water out. They are prone to water infiltration and the white metal housing was deformed from freezing in winter on mine so that when you rotated the key contacts were not touching. Mine stopped finally and wouldn't start. Soon figured out it was the switch. Changed the switch and good as new, about 80.00 as I recollect.

I have the same tractor. But this time it was running no problem, but just stop completetly while I was snow blowing my driveway. If you find the problem with yours, can you posted? Thanks
