Hello All:

What is the main advantage of having a tractor with dual remotes? What are the draw-backs( if any)?

Thanks

Clarify please. Remotes typically come in pairs. Does your question regard one pair or two?

Well dual remotes can run 2 cylinders. That means up/down, left/right, clockwise/counter-clockwise or any combinations there-in. Motors, tongue swing, header raise, log split, raise jack, etc. If you have decent pump capacity, you can have quite a bit of fun.

With two remotes you can operate one two way cylinder.
Four you can operate two ..... two way cylinders. Just to name a couple.

I always thought it meant the number of valves, not hoses, so dual remotes as advertised with my tractor meant two valves and 4 quick-connects to run two dual-acting cylinders. There isn't much disadvantage other than valves and hoses taking up space on the tractor and more plumbing that could potentially leak.
They are good for things like implements with cylinders, hydraulic top and side links on the 3ph, grapple, easy hook-up of a log splitter, etc. Dealer installed they run about $500 each and a single remote set is not uncommon. It tales some time and money to add hydraulic functions but not getting out of your seat is nice. Check out 3RRL's posts. You can't have too many remotes. :)

Well, remember you're addressing a Chinese tractor forum here Brad. I've owned four, and three of them had one single remote (one hose, one valve). This configuration is (obviously) for single action cylinders only, like on a dump trailer lift perhaps. Hydraulic pressure raises the lift, gravity forces the fluid back into the sump.

The OP doesn't list what type tractor he owns, so we don't know his current hydraulic configuration. Hence the question about "one pair or two".

There is no advantage if you don't need them. I don't have any and still get along. On a small tractor extra (or any) remotes means a lot of hoses running around. Some of the big JD's I use to drive the pair (4 connections) or remotes were built into the back of the tractor, no external hoses.

Adding them also means you'll be a lot lighter in the pocket book with all the controls, couplings, and hoses you will need to buy. Over $1000 bucks if I recall what some have said.

Again, this is a Chinese tractor forum Rob. My KM454 cost $10,500 delivered (in 2004), and came with two sets of remotes (4 QDs/2 valves) at no extra charge.

The only disadvantage of two is that you will soon figure out how you could use three. :) or maybe four.

I agree, I am almost finished with two aftermarket remote kits for the 200 & 300 series Jinma's where the end user can make a choice. I bet I will sell more with four.
