Craftsman too, I don't have many Craftsman tools, but I tried being smart and brought an old looking, beat up 1/2" ratchet to sears for replacement. Figured I'd get a new shiny one to replace it. What I got was someone else's old beat up ratchet refurbished with new plastic parts in it

I realized after, I was better off with the old one.

Snap-on, MAC, Matco, Craftsman, Cromwell, etc. have the free lifetime replacement on the "hard iron" tools (assuming they were not obviously abused); but not on electrical, pneumatic, or mechanical devices, including ratchets under normal conditions. A lot of times, ratchets (not air ratchets) can be promptly repaired on the tool trucks by the distributor.

strange as it sounds, harbor freight has started doing this. lifetime warranty on 'hand' tools.. no powered/ air ones.. etc.

If you carry blocks, you don't need the second jack. Just roll up onto the blocks before trying to get the jack under the axle.

Well they had a whole box of refurbished replacement ratchets waiting to go?

I'm no fan of sears power tools, but their hand tools are pretty good, I just don't own many.

I just bought a 20" 1/2" breaker bar for $7. :confused2: don't know if I should trust it, but it looks pretty decent, even the chrome.

That is a good idea. However, I think the second bottle jack probably takes up less room than the blocks.

the blocks make good chocks, and don't weight much.. take both! :)
