Has anyone tried putting dual wheels (front and back) on their Boomer? I have a TC 29 with R1's and I need that traction, but would also like more flotation, as I make serious ruts whenever the ground is soft. I want my cake and eat it too!

Bigfinn,

There was a post some time ago on duals. I did a search and could not find it but it was my memory that duals was not good for the compact tractors as the axles could not handle them. This is only my memory of it and at my age my memory is good but short. But anyway try the search feature and see if you can come up with something.

Here is a JD that someone posted a while back.

Interesting, R4's in the front and R1's in the back!

On the JD--a nice addition to the ROPS for seriously tilted sidehills. Makes me wonder if it was converted for stability, traction, or both? And does anyone load duals on a CUT?

I believe most CUT manufaturers say not to put duals on their machines, as they are not built for it. As others say, they are available and it is done.

You are aware how much duals rip up sod when you turn? I think you would be extremely disappointed for your intended reason to have the duals. The inner tire of a turn must slip & skid.

Duals give you floatation which will help with your rutting problem but I don't think they will help much with traction on a compact. The tractors are too light to begin with. The tires will spin too easily without duals and if you do throw duals on it the tractor will have to work that much harder to turn the wheels. Also, it will tear up your machine as the axels and bearings are not designed to stand the pressure the duals will put on everything. The compact tractor was designed to be light and if you are having trouble rutting things up with a TC 29 then you might want to look into some sort of drainage control as the land is too swampy for working.
