ok , I have some very Dumb questions , hoping those with an electrical background can help, and yes I can take some ribbing so feel free to poke fun if necessary. I am electrically challenged However I Been thinking about getting a 12 Volt Diesel Transfer Pump to help pump diesel from a Blitz diesel container into a BX25 (I dislike where filler cap is on BX25 and having to balance can for long period of time) but more importantly when I am away my wife cannot lift the Blitz container herself. So here's my dumb questions , Every small 12 volt transfer pump I see comes with battery jumper type cables (makes sense) . Yet right below the seat on the BX25 is a 12 volt liter adapter.

dumb question 1 -
Is there a liter adapter on the after Market that could be used to take advantage of this BX25 12 Volt adapter?

dumb question 2-
Is it safe to cut the jumper cables off the transfer pump and re-wire with an after market liter adapter (If their is one available). This would allow a person to plug the pump into the 12 v AUX adapter on the BX 25 right next to floor board and keep the Blitz container on the floor of the garage (no lifting)

The BX25 Literature has this warning "not to draw more than 120 watts from this circuit" . At present I do not know what lets say a small Tuthill transfer pump such as this draws. Tuthill Transfer FR1612 DC ROTARY VANE PUMP

I have looked online but only find specialty liter adapters for phones, ipods , computers etc.. cannot seem to find one that just has 2 exposed wires that could be used to power the transfer pump from the BX25 Liter adapter. (if safe)

what am I missing?
is such an adapter available?
is it safe to do ?

Electrical wiring is not my forte I readily admit. one of the hardest things I ever did was wire a 3 way house lighting switch which was difficult at best for me.

Any input provided would be greatly appreciated.

I just use an old 12v battery charger for my 12 volt transfer pump. Works great with no hastle of jumping anything!

Wayne , Thank you for the input. I'm sure that works well for you.

However there are the additional times My wife and I and tractor are a ways from house clearing our back property. It would be nice to bring additional blitz container of diesel with us (and mostly her when she is alone) rather than having to drive all the way back for a refill. I could load the portable container on tractor for her in AM, and she could refill during the day by herself without lifting heavy container while she is on that days work site area.

so it would be nice to still know if,

a. a liter adapter connection is feasible. (if one can be purchased after market)
b. It is safe to cut leads and rewire said adapter to the pump.
c. if it is safe to use in 12V BX25 Aux adapter below the seat (there is still a wattage question about these pumps as well) to run one of these pumps from the BX25 circuit when at the remote job site.

Anyone in the know , input would be greatly appreciated.

The Kubota lighter socket is rated for 10 amps. According to the Northern Tool site the Tuthill pump draws 20 amps.
I think the BX25 is like the BX24, right under the steering wheel is the battery, one knob, the screen is off and the big alligator clips can hook right on to the battery, no worries there.

You can cut the alligator clips off and fit it with any fittings you deem you need. I would use the aux lights circuit in the back of the bx . The cig socket wires are too thin for high current use like pump, it will blow fuse all the time. (I tested it )
DO you have a battery charger ? you can use that for power source for the pump instead.

As for balancing can , I am not sure what the heck you are doing, but if you flip the seat up, you expose the tank. I rest my blitz can on that and let the can guzzle into the tank. When I know I am right at empty, leaving the blitz can on the tank is safe since it hold 6.1 gallons and the tilt of can will empty nearly 4 gallons. One the can stops guzzling, I can lift the can for last gallon and no straining.

Another option is to use the kerosene hand siphon pump. just add a length of hose for can and nozzle to reach tank from ground. no power to mess with.

You can buy a cigarette lighter kit both ends run some 16 guage wire wit ha 20amp fuss. Mount the plug were ever convient.

How about using the FR1602 model which only draws 10 amps.

Model FR1602 DC Gear Pumps @ Tuthill.com

What I did mine with my GPI pump mounted in a drum was power it from a trailer hitch adapter I installed on my tractor. I have a 6 pin trailer hookup on my tractor so I can pull my small trailers on the road and have the flashers and turn signals work on the trailers. I ran a 14 AWG wire to the center pin through a 15 amp fuse. I attached the male end of the trailer hookup to my pump. When I need fuel I pull up to the drum, plug the pump into the trailer hookup and pump away. It appears the wire you are referring to will handle 10 amps but I don't think the cigarette type outlets are rated for that much. The 6 pin trailer hookup worked well for me.

I set the jug on the tank with the flipped up seat and use a battery powered kerosene pump (don't do this with gas) take both caps off put put pump in jerry can and discharge in tank, flick switch its a little slow but at about $12.00 it really cheap!!!!! just like yours truly.

Get youself a pair of ANDERSON connectors, the smaller ones, and wire directly from the battery using #10 wire and a fuse holder with 25 amp fuse installed on the positive side.
Most auto parts or battery shops will have the andersons in stock (about $12/pr) or even EBay often has them as well.
Excellent rugged connectors!

1* How far away from the house is this?
How long will a tank of fuel last in your tractor>?
