We had just had a discussion re: drill bit grabbing and knocking you off the ladder.
I was working on modifying my fel with a 'scoop".

Need couple of 7/8" holes.
My left hand knew what my right hand was doing but did not say anything. :D

Get the "new" pistol grip drill, do not attach the side handle. Drill 1/4 pilot, enlarge one size, then to the finish size. Oops grab and twist out of my hand. OK just a little more and hole is done. Grip tighter and pull the trigger WOW that smarts.
Oh well NEXT time I'll get the "T" handle SLOW speed drill and save some time and pain.

OUCH! That hurts just looking at the pictures! Man, I feel for you tonight. Hope it heals soon and you can try out the new drill tips.

Take care,

Jeff

OUCH!!
The cast shown all you need for that broken bone?

I came close to doing the same with a half-inch drill that I bought used that had no handle other than the D handle. I cobbled one together after getting a severe wrenched wrist.

Thanks for posting...someone can learn from your education.:)

Awww come on man up. A bit of ice and duct tape and get back to drilling.

Been there and done that without the broken finger part fortunately

Yep, it's almost a certainty no matter many how step up sizes you go through, a hand held drill will grab and give your hand a good twist.

Hope your finger heals up quickly. Was it the twisting action that over-stressed the bone or did the drill come completely loose, rotate around and smack your fingers?

Thanks for the safety reminder to use the side handle. My hands/wrists certainly don't have the strength they used to.
Dave.

There is a bright side.

Broken fingers actually heal faster than badly sprained ones.

Ouch, that will hurt.:(

My drills have hung up a few times but fortunately I was able to let go. One wrapped up and broke the cord.:ashamed:

Thanks for all the "get wells".

Just twisting, no impact.

Awww come on man up. A bit of ice and duct tape and get back to drilling.

Yeah, if I'd had a hypodermic, could have just given it a shot of "crazy glue"

The cast shown all you need for that broken bone?

What you see is what I get. It has a couple of pads inside that press on the broken bone to keep it in place.

My son did that and had to have surgery and was off work for 3 months with a shattered hand..large commercial drill with side handle and still got away and smacked his hand hard..
