This is the most dumbest thing I think I've ever broken. I broke the tube that holds the dipstick on my JD 5520.
I think I broke it mowing a weedy field. It had a lot of trees hanging over the edge and it must have just got snagged and snapped. After mowing I noticed a lot of oil around the dipstick (it wasn't fully off yet) and then realized the tube was bent sideways!
I plugged it up with a shop towel and then ordered a new tube.
Now the problem is is that there's still a little bit of the tube left in the bore. The new tube won't go in until I get the old bit out. Any idea's on how to get that part out?

How about a dent puller like they use in a body shop with a L shaped end

If MrJimi's idea fails, you have to use a punch and drive it out the bottom, drop the oil pan and remove the remains. You might be able to get it out the oil drain hole.

sounds like a good job for an easy out, carefuly twist it in till it grips then pull straight out. No easy out? try a old style metal sheet rock anchor, hold it with pliers just above the hole, tighten screw till the anchor expands and grips the tube then pull it out. No sheetrock anchor? use a self tapping screw, just be carefull not to let any of the shavings drop into the hole. If these dont work pull pan and drive it up and out, incase there is a ridge or a taper to the bore.

What you need is a blind hole bearing puller. I think OTC makes one in the Scorpion line. I think that the smallest one should probably fit, but would need to check.

OTC 4581 - Stinger Blind Hole Bearing Puller Set

Let me know if you want to borrow it. UPS flat rate shipping box is about $10 each way.

I did this on an old truck of mine. Took a self starting bolt (pointed end) with fairly sharp threads and ran it into the broken off tube. The bolt should be a bit bigger than the tube ID. Then a pair of pliers pulled it out pretty easily. If it's more stubborn, a vice grip on the bolt and a couple hammer whacks ought to do it.

great tool Ive never heard of it before. But I think 3/8 is too big for a dipsick tube.

The ideas above are good. What I have done in the past for similar situations, and would try before dropping the pan, is use a small, sharp punch (I have a modified metal scribe) and hammer to bend a section of the tube top inward to make a lip to get hold of and pry on. Those tiny vice grips are sometimes useful for this sort of thing. You could also use the punch straight down along the tube to collapse it, but you would have to be careful not to let it fall it.

have fixed the same type of problem with using a fine thread tap. measure the inside of dipstick tube, fine a small english, or metric tap that will work. Tap hole, get threaded bolt, rod, whatever. Use a slide hammer. If it comes out, great. Then change oil, and flush out pan using diesel fuel. Let drain, reinstall drain plug, fill with oil. Run several minutes, change filter then to new one. Check oil. Fill as needed. Hope this helps.....:D

jeeze, plenty of responses!
Thank you. I have plenty of bolts down at my shop so I'll try that idea most likely. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. Hopefully good!
